“Turns Out I've Been Dressing the Wrong Colours My Whole Life”

The finished Cornflower Blue Sapphire and Paraiba Ring

“I always thought I was a warm palette. Turns out I’ve had it backwards this whole time.”

This wasn't her first visit with us, so we got straight to it. She came in for a colour analysis session and discovered something she never expected — she's a Cool Winter, not warm-toned as she'd always believed.

That one discovery changed how she looked at her wardrobe and jewellery. Instead of replacing everything at once, she decided to make thoughtful changes over time. This ring became the first piece in that journey, designed to suit her colouring from the very beginning.

From first conversation to final reveal

1. The First Consultation

This is where everything clicked. We walked her through her colour analysis results and showed her why she's a Cool Winter, not warm-toned. That one conversation led directly to the ring commission. Was she surprised by the result, or did it instantly explain why certain colours had never quite worked for her?

2. Choosing the Stone

Once she knew her colour palette, she didn't second-guess her choices. She was naturally drawn to an electric blue Paraíba tourmaline because of its unmistakable glow. We paired it with a cornflower blue sapphire beneath it—a cooler, softer blue that balances the Paraíba beautifully instead of competing with it. Match made in heaven.

3. The Design & Sketch

Three words kept coming up during the design process: tranquil, water and nature. We used those as the foundation for the ring, adding a cluster of diamonds and touches of green tsavorite around the two centre stones. Instead of a perfectly symmetrical layout, the design has a softer, more organic flow that reflects the feeling she wanted.

4. The Crafting Process

Pairing two different gemstones with two different cuts wasn't as straightforward as it looks. The challenge was making sure they complemented each other instead of competing for attention.

Sometimes a commission starts with a gemstone. Sometimes it starts with a conversation.

For her, it began with discovering the colours that suited her best. Everything else—the gemstones, the design and the ring—followed naturally.

If you're ready to create something that's uniquely yours, let's start with a conversation.
